I was there!

Okay, so another night without a descent shot (well except for the one above..haha). I've been trying different things with the long exposures and lighting. I feel I'm starting to put it together and just a matter of time now. Tonight was quite the exception to picture taking with the elements, but I felt like a kid out there tonight. I had a permanent grin, totally enjoying the moment. It was funny pulling up to the rangers kiosk. "Can I help you?" "Uh, yeah, there's my park pass and I'm here to shoot some photos". Now keep in mind, there is NOBODY in this lake right now (8pm and pitch black) with the rain coming down like crazy and sideways...the look on his face would have been the picture of the night. After he finished his flabbergasted look, he just took his hand and kinda waved it in a forward motion as in, have at it!
Another key to the fun tonight was having all the right equipment. Not only was I warm, but perfectly dry. Also had all the gear to keep the camera protected and snapping away (yes I did get photos, but these are only good enough to go into my personal journal...tracking my progress). So to sum it up, I was in nature, in the wind and rain, snapping photos all by myself...uh...PRICELESS!

I Heart Faces Photo Contest | Pets

This is Bingo. I ran an ad in Craigslist for a puppy to shoot pictures of and the first reply came back with this little guy. The owner just picked him up out of the animal shelter two weeks ago. She happened to walk in when Bingo was just dropped off.

Head over to I Heart Faces for a look at the HUGE talent pool.

Smoke Art

A very fun technique used with an incense and flash photography.

Inspiration in photography anyone?

The weekend is here and I usually make it a point to watch this video once a week...It NEVER gets old! In summary, it's all about the passion...he clearly relays that message. Enjoy!

The Dark Side of the Lens

Fix-it-Friday

All right, here's my entry (first time) and it was performed at work on lunch...racing like crazy. I'll have to come back and submit all the details of what was modified...as I'm well past my lunch hour.

The original above.

My modified one. I used Photoshop CS3, as mentioned above, the details will follow later tonight.

...okay, I don't see the boss around. Here were the steps (CS3 PS):

  • Flipped image (..because I can?)
  • Duplicated background
  • Played with brightness/Saturation
  • Found a decent colored sky, took a sample with the eye dropper
  • Selected gradient tool, pulled from top-center down to the skyline
  • searched for the original photo, opened it, turned it into a black and white w/slight adjustments
  • Dragged the B & W over to the color side and sandwiched it between the background and my duplicated color photo
  • selected the color layer and started to erase over the frame area and the girls (drawing out the B & W
  • That's it!!

New website

Just started a new website to start importing all my work into. I'll keep this blog (needs some work here also), I'll just embed it into my website. Hopefully the core of it will be completed in about two weeks. Go check it out WeddingtonPhotography.com

I heart faces

I was searching around the net for doing self portraits and came across this blog (http://sereinasphotography.blogspot.com/) ...to put it lightly, Sereina rocked it.

I do all different types of photography, so I figured it's time to start with people and portraits. I didn't have much time to make this entry, so I'm using a photo shoot I played with about 2 weeks ago. I just slapped this blog up and will refine it over the next few weeks.
